If we look at what they did to Jesus on this day all those years ago, it would be impossible to comprehend why it’s now referred to as Good Friday. However, when we change perspective and consider what Jesus did for us that day, it makes perfect sense.
It wasn’t good for Jesus the day he went to the cross. Yet he became the greatest gift we’ve ever received. Good Friday is “good” because it bridged the gap between our sinful selves and God our Father. Jesus suffered immensely on that cross and sacrificed himself for us. I don’t know any greater love than that. So indeed, today, we can joyfully proclaim that it is Good Friday.
