I awoke to the rain pouring down this morning. Usually this would deter me from getting out of bed. But this particular morning it started me thinking about Jesus washing me clean. “Have you been to Jesus for cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” As the rains wash and cleanse the earth, a peace settles over me because I’ve experienced the “soul cleansing power of the Lamb.”

“Are you fully trusting in his grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” Not only do I trust in God’s grace in this moment, but all day everyday. Satan likes to come at me with reminders of all the terrible choices I’ve made. He lists my failures and tries to tell me I am not worthy of Christ’s love and grace. But he is a liar! I’ve been “washed in the blood of the Lamb.” His grace is enough to cover every bad choice I’ve made. God offers that same grace to every sinner on this earth. Don’t believe the lies of the evil one. Trust in the cleansing power of Jesus instead.

“Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” Our part is not complete by simply accepting salvation. We are called to action. It is important to nourish our relationship with God. Just as the rain is providing sustenance for the flowers in my yard, the Bible is God’s food for our soul.

I can tell the biggest difference on days when I fail to open my Bible or take time to talk with God. Those days are harder. Feelings of anxiety build in my chest.  I lose patience with my kids more often. Frustration creeps into my attitude. Without rain, the flowers wither; without time in God’s word, our souls languish. We need to spend time every day reading the Bible in order for our connection with Christ to grow. A relationship also needs communication to thrive. Prayer is essential. “Do you rest each moment in the crucified? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?” Abiding in Bible reading and prayer gives us the rest we need, the peace we desire.

Rain pelting the ground, slight breeze through my open window, it is so peaceful, so refreshing. Eventually the rains will clear; the quiet of the morning will be replaced by the chaos of the day. Challenges will arise and temptations may come. But that’s okay. I can confidently answer yes to this question: “When the Bridegroom commeth, will your robes be white?” I have chosen salvation. I have laid “aside the garments that are stained with sin,” and have been “washed in the blood of the Lamb.” And that provides me joy and peace. “There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean.” Have you been to the fountain? If not, I encourage you to seek it out today.
